Illustrating a before/after image

February 11, 2015 at 08:32 , by admin

One of the tools I had to have for CityNews was the before/after image slider. A lot of news organizations like the New York Times and CBC News use it to show the before and after images of a natural disaster, for example. Think Haiti earthquake or Hurricane Katrina.

I hunted around NICAR’s listserv for thread discussions on the before/after slider. And found two suggestions. One required the image be hosted on someone else’s server which for obvious I didn’t use. Here’s the code on which the slider was based.

I never could find a reason to use it at CityNews until now. The below image is of anchor Gord Martineau, me on the lower left of the screen and my now ex-colleagues!
